Introduction to the use of data on the GBIF Data Portal
The graphical user interface for GBIF-mediated data is the Data Portal.
The GBIF Data Portal
is proof of the concept that a worldwide distributed network of
biodiversity data providers can be linked together and made searchable
from a single point of access.
The portal includes a general introduction and online tutorial.
If you are a first-time visitor, you may want to let it guide you
through a few examples. This tutorial can be accessed from the ’About’
link on any of the portal pages.
The Data Portal allows complex searches on any taxon, country or
dataset, or on a combination of these parameters. The existing Portal is

If you would like to know what new features have been added recently, please check out the version history, which can be found on the Portal’s entry page.
Web Services
The GBIF portal offers a range of services to support the use of
biodiversity data in other applications and analyses, and additional
