The purpose of the Survey is to collect information on the demography of use of biodiversity data, and to understand the myriad ‘primary biodiversity data’ needs across user communities. The Survey also seeks inputs to determine the unique scientific and policy contributions of uses made of data mobilised and accessible through the GBIF community. The Survey is available online.
Analysis of the Survey responses will be conducted by the GBIF CNA TG,, co-chaired by Drs Dan Faith and Ben Collen. Findings will underpin recommendations to GBIF on strategies and priorities, in the short-, medium- and long-terms, for primary biodiversity data discovery and mobilisation activities through the global GBIF network.
Through this announcement we request stakeholders and users of primary biodiversity data to participate in the Survey. We further request scientific institutions, multi-lateral organisations, national, regional and global funding agencies, academicians, and citizen scientists to participate in the Survey.
